Add your first bot
A bot is one Steam account that EasySteamFarm signs into and works on your behalf. Here is the whole path, from a brand-new account to a bot collecting cards.
You need the login and password of the Steam account you want to farm on — not the account you play on daily, if you would rather keep the two separate. Every new account gets a 5-hour trial with one bot, so you can see it work before paying anything.
Adding the bot
- Open the Dashboard and press "Add bot"Top right of the page. The form opens straight away.
- Give it a nameThis is only a label for you —
farm_main,cards_alt, anything. It cannot be changed later, so pick something you will still recognise with five bots running. - Enter the Steam login and passwordThe account the bot signs into. Your password is encrypted before it is stored, and is never shown back to you or to us.
- Leave the two secret fields empty for nowShared secret and Identity secret are optional. They let the bot handle Steam Guard by itself — worth setting up later, and explained in Steam Guard and 2FA.
- Set your main account (optional)The account cards should end up on. Fill it in and the transfer happens on its own — see Where your cards go.
- Press AddThe bot signs in. If Steam asks for a code, you will be prompted for it right there.
Choosing what it does
A freshly added bot is online but idle — it is signed in and waiting. You decide its job from the Dashboard by assigning a module:
- Cards Farm — collects the trading cards still owed to that account, then stops.
- Hours Boost — accumulates playtime on games you choose, indefinitely.
Pick one and the bot starts working on it immediately. It also remembers the choice: after a restart of the platform, it resumes the same module on its own. If you are unsure which you want, Card farming or Hours Boost lays out the difference in a paragraph.
A Steam account can only play a game from one place at a time. While a bot is farming, launching a game yourself on that same account will kick the bot off — it reconnects, but the two of you will keep interrupting each other. This is why most people farm on a second account.
What happens next
Cards drop over hours, not minutes — Steam releases them gradually as playtime accumulates, and the pace is set by Steam, not by us. The Dashboard shows live status for each bot: which game it is on, how many cards remain, and whether it needs anything from you.
You do not have to keep the page open. Everything runs on our servers; close the browser and the bot keeps going.
